Tobacco Dependence Advisor for the Emergency Department

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support our inpatients with temporary tobacco abstinence whilst in hospital and underpin quit attempts.

This exciting role will involve helping patients to reframe their approach to their smoking behaviours, managing their cravings with personalised support plans and tailoring those treatment plans, which titrate nicotine replacement therapy, to support discharge planning and a longer‑term goal of being smoke‑free.

Main duties of the job

The Tobacco Dependence Advisor for Inpatients will work across adult in‑patient wards:

• undertaking tobacco dependence assessments,
• educating service users about options to manage their tobacco dependence
