Function of Position:
Reporting to the Director of Learning Support Systems, Writing Consultants for Evening Shifts are professional staff who work with students on one or more evenings(Monday through Thursday between 4 pm - 9 pm to help them to develop effective writing strategies and to become self-regulated learners.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary Functions:
+ Foster the development of independent, intentional learners;
+ Meet with students on a one-on-one basis to provide learning assistance related to writing
+ Help students with the writing process - not with editing papers
+ Using guiding questions, elicit critical thinking in students, aiding the students understanding of his/her writing
+ Help students understand the structure of topic sentences, thesis state...
